About the Opportunity:

Supplier Scheduling Managers are responsible for structuring, issuing, managing, and closing product and service purchase orders aligned with customer service, manufacturing productivity, and inventory objectives. This is accomplished by understanding purchasing and purchased inventory objectives, strategies, policies, procedures, work instructions, and performance management requirements under direction of the site Supply Chain & Procurement Director.

What you’ll do:

Supplier Scheduling Managers are responsible for structuring, issuing, managing, and closing product and service purchase orders aligned with customer service, manufacturing productivity, and inventory objectives. This is accomplished by understanding purchasing and purchased inventory objectives, strategies, policies, procedures, work instructions, and performance management requirements under direction of the site Supply Chain & Procurement Director.

The primary responsibility of Supplier Scheduling Managers is to place and maintain purchase orders in support of site procured material and service requirements.

  • Helping to ensure a safe work environment

  • Scheduling the procurement of purchased material in line with inventory objectives and delivery constraints, and consistent with scheduling processes.

  • Ensuring the availability of purchased material by communicating with suppliers (internal and external) and by optimizing delivery lead times and supplier service quality

  • Validating and communicating all firm orders and forecasts to suppliers

  • Organizing and managing inbound purchased material transportation to meet schedule requirements, where necessary, including customs clearance

  • Anticipating delivery delays from suppliers and managing required expedites

  • Ensuring inputs to the purchased material scheduling process parameters are regularly reviewed and monitored for accuracy

  • Ensuring appropriate procured material metric targets are achieved

  • Proactively communicating / escalating potential delivery issues / constraints to trigger preventive actions in order to mitigate supply failure risk

  • Complying with site policies, procedures, work instructions, risk management, and regulatory requirements

  • Developing and supporting site procurement objectives, strategies, and plans

  • Supporting GKN purchasing objectives for targeted supplier business types / classifications

  • Processing site purchase order requests and issuing, monitoring, and managing purchase orders in support of site demand

  • Reducing total landed cost and cost of ownership of purchased material and services

  • Reducing purchase order placement-to-delivery of purchased material and services

  • Incorporating engineering change requirements in new and existing open purchase orders

  • Driving MPS and SIOP activities related to purchasing of material / services and management of procured inventory levels

  • Supporting raw material and BOP inventory strategy and ensuring purchase orders comply to related policies

  • Working with new product development, engineering, and sourcing to identify and fulfill purchasing requirements for new and revised products

  • Working with Receiving to resolve purchasing-related two-way match issues for items received from suppliers

  • Working with Accounts Payable to resolve purchasing-related three-way match errors for invoices received from suppliers

  • Ensure alignment of procurement systems parameters and rigorous management of master data for all procured items and services

  • Processing return to supplier transactions for impacted material

  • Dynamically rescheduling open purchase orders (increases, decreases, pull ins, pull outs, and cancellations) to keep procured item deliveries aligned with manufacturing demand and inventory on hand objectives

  • Updating and maintaining purchasing management policies, procedures, and work instructions

  • Ensuring that procurement-related performance metrics are achieved

  • Prepare and submit purchasing performance status and reports as required

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance

About You:

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. person as determined by ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance.

  • Associate’s degree in supply chain or operations management discipline or five years of related experience in manufacturing companies

Additional Qualifications:

  • Training and development of team members

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or operations management discipline or ten years of related experience in aerospace and defense product sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing

  • Professional procurement-related certification (example:American Purchasing Society Certified Purchasing Professional)

  • Effective teamwork, integrity, negotiation, and collaboration skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective planning, organizing, communication, and conflict management skills

  • Business analytics, problem solving, and decision making skills
