What you’ll do

Job Purpose

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Act as an authorized agent of the company with the responsibility to commit company resources through contracts and agreements for the procurement of goods and services. Primary responsibility shall be to manage the Daily Management and Execution of all Supply Chain related activities associated with all Direct Hardware and Raw Material contracted for the St. Louis site, such as Delivery Schedule Adherence, Min / Max Inventory compliance, and general support to GKN St. Louis’ Master Production Schedule (MPS). Additional duties would include leading and/or supporting various strategic initiatives and special projects between GKN and our supply chain related to, but not limited to such efforts as New Supplier Development, Proposal Development, Cost Down initiatives, Process Improvements, Work Transfers and Product Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Supply Chain Procurement Team (Buyers). Ensure the effective use of resources while at the same time meeting the needs of the site business units.

  • Manage the Shipping, Receiving and Freight functions. Ensure the effective use of resources while at the same time meeting the needs of the site business units.

  • Provide leadership and direction, with an emphasis on team building.

  • Ensure clear and concise Supply Chain expectations are communicated and properly coordinated with internal business unit customers, and external Program / Customer interfaces.

  • Serve as primary Point of Contact for all Direct procurement related Quality and Delivery matters.

  • Develop a mutual respect and high level of confidence with the business units.

  • Ensure the compliance of the approved sourcing and procurement procedures (i.e. FAR, DFAR, and ISO). Interface with Contract Compliance personnel to assure consistency of compliance activities.

  • Manage the Customer Owned Property (tooling) function. Act as the primary focal point for all customer tooling audits and ensure that all processes are in place to safely maintain and store customer owned assets.

  • Proactively communicate / escalate to the management team potential delivery issues / constraints in order to trigger preventive actions and mitigate operational risk.

  • Ensure appropriate supply chain KPIs and metric targets are achieved (e.g. Delivery Schedule Adherence (DSA), Quality, Inventory Turns, Freight Costs, and Customer metrics e.g. PASD / PSDD’s).

  • Determine action plans to improve measures.

  • Continuously improve and develop the external materials logistic network to achieve lowest cost movement of materials into and out of plants.

  • Partner with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, conduct buyer / market profiles, share marketplace trends, share best practices, and define acceptable service levels.

  • Monitor market dynamics and communicates changes that affect internal client needs.

  • Identify, and as necessary, lead projects to apply strategic sourcing methodology, Process Improvements and Lean principles.

  • Develop and deploy supply chain CI plan and projects to achieve business plan.

  • Contribute to the longer term strategy (3 to 5 year plan) for the site(s) from a Supply Chain perspective.

  • Support the Strategic Sourcing Manager, as required, working with GKN plc on corporate leveraged contracts.

  • Support the Production Planning and Control Manager, as required, to drive MPS and SIOP activities related to external supply planning / scheduling.

  • Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities, as assigned.

About you

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management

  • 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing / Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP / ERP).

  • Must be US Citizen per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership ability in a manufacturing environment.

  • Good analytical skills, an understanding of manufacturing, lean manufacturing principles, and strong customer relation skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office suite.

  • Recognized Materials Management or Supply Chain Management certification such as American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or Institute of Supplier Management (ISM), desired.

  • Project Management training and experience, preferred.

  • Must possess excellent communications skills including strong executive-level presentation skills.
