About The Opportunity

Role Purpose

Lead the NMA Service Centre to achieve Zero lost time accidents, 100% Delivery, Quality and Cost Management. Lead the site and the Site Leadership team, with a focus on meeting and exceeding internal/external expectations. This role has full ownership of the operational activities for the Business Unit and must be able to ‘step back’ to support and lead the other members of the Site Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Value Stream operates safely for all employees.

  • Implement Leadership Ways of Working (including systematic Gemba Walk and Constructive Feedback/Recognition)

  • Ensure Value Stream operates safely for all employees.

  • Understand GKN NMA, objectives and integrate to long and short-term plans for the Business Unit.

  • Lead by example and champion a culture of Diversity, Inclusion, Engagement, and Employee Involvement, following the GKN way.

  • Lead and align the Business Unit functions to focus on achievement of objectives and key business measurables.

  • Champion the use of lean tools to achieve the goals of the value stream through improving flow and removing waste (non-value add).

  • Ensure compliance to internal and external accreditation standards (including TS 16949 and internal DES standards).

  • Ensure compliance to local and GKN business policies.

  • Work with Human Resources to cultivate a development plan for the business unit employees (OPP through to ‘basics’ needed to do the job).

  • Promote a culture of Cost Leadership

  • Take ownership for the Business Unit budget and financial performance.

  • People Management:

  • Develop a diverse and inclusive team aligned to GKN philosophy.

  • Motivate team by setting challenging and achievable goals. Communicate business strategy and update team on the roadmap to excellence.

  • Create a culture of Engagement where all employees have the tools they need to do their job well and have the opportunity to contribute to improvement through employee involvement.

Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Specific Functional Competences, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Experience of Manufacturing systems, Services and Automotive Industry

  • Experience as member of a site leadership team

  • Lean Knowledge

  • Supply Chain planning processes (SIOP and MPS)

  • Ability to Manage P&L
