About The Opportunity
Primarily, this role has overall purchasing responsibility of FE-IN at the phase of production introduction, to ensure that the materials are ordered on time and in compliance with the applicable specifications and requirements. This role will be in direct contact with suppliers to monitor progress of open orders to ensure timely availability of the correct materials as needed for production.
In addition, duing the startup phase in the first year, this role has operational responsibility for the setup- and operation of the new warehouse, import and export processes and indirect purchasing of non product related materials
This role is for a new GKN Fokker Elmo Plant to be set up in the Phulgaon area of Pune. GKN Fokker Elmo designs and manufactures wire harnesses for the Aerospace and defense sector. This will be a key role during the set up and further development of the plant. Substantial growth of the plant is expected in the first three years. Growth towards leadership and management positions is envisaged for key startup personnel
With the support of global SCM and the FE-IN set-up project team, the Logistics & Purchasing Engineer of FE-IN takes below responsibility:
To place orders with the suppliers based upon Baan advices
To ensure that the materials are ordered from approved suppliers, based on Approved
Supplier List (ASL) as maintained by Fokker Elmo Global Procurement Department
To expedite material in case of urgent material needs
To monitor material order progress and in case of a certain issue with a supplier cannot be
solved, escalate to the responsible of Buyer of Fokker Elmo Global Procurement
To report material shortages and “extra use” and request/order replacement material
To monitor the expected availability of material shortages to enable Production Planners to
adjust shopfloor production schedules accordingly (where necessary)
- To be point of contact towards the suppliers for the logistic aspects related to material return
shipments, credit invoices, replacement of rejected items, obtianing missing Certificates of
To provide input concerning periodic supplier performance overviews
Responsible for checking invoices on correctness to make sure correct invoices can be paid
Management and support of warehouse employee(s) to ensure correct and safe performance of warehouse processes. Examples of these are, but are not limited to
Storage of inventory in physical warehouse and registry in ERP system
Material kitting process
Management and support of import / export specialist to ensure correct performance of import and export processes. Examples of these are, but are not limited to
Maintenance of Harmonised System (HS) codes of all materials, finished products and fixed assets
Registry of all incoming and outgoing shipments
Preparation and collection of documents, e.g. ICD (Invoice, Certificate of Conformance, Dispatch form) for customs and shipping
Arrangement of shipments and related communication with customs broker
Management and support of non-product related procurement officer, to ensure correct and timely purchasing of tools, equipment, utilities and consumables, in accordance with GKN procedecures and requirements
Qualification and Skills
Degree or Diploma preferably in Engineering or Business Administration
3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in (multi site) manufacturing environment
3 years of all round logistical experience in warehousing, import / export or related processes
Knowledge of material planning methods
Knowledge of logistic principles and processes, including ERP system (like import/export regulations, warehousing ,shipping, etc)
Ability to communicate, formulate and report in a clear, understandable method
Preferably a SCM background in Auto or Aerospace Industry
5 years experience would be a stronger candidate

- Training history on Supply Chain Management
- English is essential: oral and written
Limited traveling, however: during the set up of the facility willing to travel to China/Turkey/The Netherlands for a period of three months, with intermediate trips home
